Nahomi Aoto is a Senior Director of Micron Memory Japan. She has been serving semiconductor industry for 37 years. Aoto lead the most advanced process development for DRAM from 2000 to 2018 in Elpida as an executive officer and in Micron as a senior director after the acquisition of Elpida by Micron in 2013. Since 2018 Aoto fills the role of an ambassador of semiconductor technology to university students and professors in Japan.

Aoto has organized over 50 lectures and speeches at universities for total 3000 audiences in the past two years, and the half of the lectures were done by herself. Aoto messages that semiconductor industry keeps growing and we can proud of our products as they are contributing the society and people to be more satisfied and happier. She inspires students to join us.

Aoto’s conviction comes from her former role and long experiences in this industry. Since joining NEC in 1983, Aoto had been leading semiconductor process development in NEC, Elpida Memory and Micron Memory Japan. She also worked directly for Micron Technology in Boise Idaho to lead DRAM development with the team in US for 2015 – 2017. During and after this assignment Aoto dedicated to achieving true technology alignment and collaboration between teams in Japan and US through sincere communication and mutual respect. Aoto’s approaches encouraged teams to achieve their goals in the latest DRAM technologies.

Aoto is leading activities in Micron Memory Japan for inspiring women’s leaderships and encouraging all engineers to get the confidence in the future of semiconductor with forefront applications.

Aoto received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees and Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Tsukuba University, Japan.
